Early Life

Emrys was born to a relatively wealthy noble family, residing in Ishgard. Her parents were both knights, her father being a relative of House Haillenarte, and her mother having no known noble connections, being a conscript into the Temple Knights. Being an only child, she had been brought up to follow in their footsteps, and in turn, she was to go through extensive training and education. Her teen years were spent studying in Sharlayan, where she would achieve archon status. She also spent considerable time training in multiple arts of combat and healing.
As she grew, the pressure mounted for her to follow her parent's legacy.

The Archon

Emrys was an aspiring Scholar. During her time in Sharlayan she sharpened, not only her book smarts, but also her blades. She trained in multiple classes of combat, choosing to primarily rely on Monk and Red Mage techniques. She is also well versed in Gunblade combat and Scholar level healing. She does have some basic knowledge with ranged weapons such as guns and bows as well. Her vast knowledge of combat skills led to her achieving Archon status on the basis of her martial skills.

Returning Home

Upon reaching Archon status, Emrys made her journey home. She managed to return home safely, but once back in Ishgard, things took a nefarious turn. As Emrys trekked the snow covered stone, a cloaked figure attacked her. He came at her with speed unmatched, and he was so silent he was undetectable until it was too late. The man pinned her under his strong grasp. She struggled to break free, but even her training left her mind in the moment. The man quickly sank his sharp teeth into her neck, and all she felt was searing pain, and the life leaving her body. He fled within the blink of an eye, leaving a weak Emrys to lie there on the snow covered stone. Cold, alone, and a fresh bite mark on her neck.

Turning Away

In the coming days, Emrys would recover from the attack, but not without ever-present new symptoms. Her instinct to eat was heightened ten-fold, but no matter how much food she ate, she remained hungry. Her eyes suddenly changed to a yellow gold hue, and she became more sensitive to bright lights. She survived many sleepless nights tossing and turning at the feeling of intense hunger. In the next weeks she retreated to the libraries, reading as much as she could on the ailments befalling her. All her studying only came back with theoretical answers, most not believing such a creature could truly exist. Emrys although, having gone through the attack as well as accounting her current condition, could come to no other conclusion. She had become a vampyr, and a spawn at that. She knew the man that bit her had not allowed her to drink from him, so she was not pure. The fear of her situation along with a deep self loathing kept her from returning home to her parents and she decided to explore the new found powers she possessed.

The Hunger

With the new changes to herself, Emrys also had to adapt to a new diet. At first she tended to not know her own limits, going for long stints without feeding, which caused her to go into a frenzy. In a frenzied state she would bite the closest thing that she deemed to have enough blood to sustain her. This resulted in her accidentally biting her companions on occasion. As she learned her new powers and body, she was able to determine how long she could go between feedings and avoid going into a frenzy. While she is not averse to biting other people, she does not usually choose that as her preferred meal. Rather than unsettling her companions or a stranger, she tends to opt for feeding on animals or beasts. While beasts may put up more of a fight, she is also able to kill two birds with one stone, often having to kill beasts on jobs anyways.

Power and Control

Emrys’s primary ability is shape shifting. She is able to change her appearance and even voice into anything she chooses. She is also faster and more agile than she was before, making her quite the formidable opponent on top of her fighting skill. Due to her magical skills, she can also summon familiars and can enhance them with speed and invisibility. She is also able to connect to the senses of any familiar she summons, allowing her to have eyes and ears wherever she may need.She has no official job, opting to work for the highest payer doing odd jobs. She is also often hired as protection for merchants or travelers who are not the best fighters. She is willing to do pretty much any job for the right price.
